Occasions+ Support / FAQ

Occasions: Birthdays & More!

About 4½ years ago, we came out with a new and revamped version of Occasions called Occasions+ that included additional alert options, iPad support, calendar integration, and other features. At this time we also stopped selling the original version of Occasions.

Why won't Occasions run on iOS 11?   When we stopped selling and supporting the original Occasions 4½ years ago, it was a 32-bit app. In iOS 10, warnings would be given for 32-bit apps warning that they wouldn't work in future versions of iOS, and with iOS 11, 32-bit applications cannot run.

How can I get my data out of Occasions and into Occasions+?   Usually Occasions will save the birthday information within your Contacts and not the app itself, so if this is the case, you should still see the birthdays in Occasions+ when it syncs with your contacts. If it's custom entries you're after, and you're running iOS 10 or lower, this is easy, as there is an Export to Occasions+ option in Occasions. You can access this by going to Occasions > Settings > Export to Occasions+. If you're running iOS 11, please email us as we have put together a beta release of an Occasions export app to be a bridge for people that have custom entries and who are running iOS 11 so that they may transfer custom entries from Occasions to Occasions+. This app is a simple app that installs in place of Occasions that has an “Export to Occasions+” button. If interested, please let us know, and we'll add your email to our beta list and send you instructions on installing the beta and exporting the custom entries to Occasions+.

What happened to Facebook integration?

Effective April 30th, 2015, we are being forced to remove Facebook integration due to changes to the Facebook API (stuff that’s beyond our control). What this means is that your existing Facebook events will still be in the app, but you will no longer be able to sync with Facebook or post to a friend’s stream. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this might cause.

Why are my Contacts missing?

In Occasions+ you must first choose to sync with your contacts before their events show up in the app. To sync with your contacts, please tap +, checkmark the Contact sources you would like to sync with, and then Sync Contacts.

Basic Troubleshooting

If you are experiencing a problem with one of our apps or with your device, in general, please try shutting down your device and restarting it. Rebooting a device can solve quite a few issues, especially if it’s been a while since your last shut down/restart. To shut down: hold the lock button until “Slide to Power Off” appears, then swipe.
